Right, I’ve been meaning to post reviews on which foundations I wear for a long time now, because they’ve become such a staple I forget they’re no longer new and that I still haven’t reviewed them!
But here is the foundation I use the most, by Dior. (Picture above from my Instagram.)
I absolutely love this stuff, I have sensitive skin and have had a lot of problems with foundations from high-street brands in the past, although I still love and praise them, I do think if you spend that bit more on foundation it really makes a difference. So high-street foundation is usually a no-go, for me.
I know £37 for this foundation is a bit pricey. It was pricey for me too, but you’re not only paying for the foundation here; you’re also paying for the compact case (which is lovely), mirror included, an application sponge and a velvety protector case too. It’s luxurious! Plus, once you got the case to refill you pay about a tenner less, but this stuff lasts a while so you won’t have to worry about that just yet!
(Picture above from Boots website, my own compact is a bit messy from how much I’ve used it!)
Anyway, going back to what I said about spending a bit more, or even double, on your budget for foundation – this is important to me because these companies, such as Dior, Chanel, Clarins, etc., earn more money and so have more money to spend on testing and research so they know which ingredients are the best to use, have the longevity/staying power for application and – the most vital – won’t affect or harm your skin!
I’m really passionate about this because you should not be putting something on your skin, especially something like foundation, if it’s actually causing more harm than good. Especially for sensitive skin types, I wasted time and money on high-street foundations which simply can’t put good ingredients in a foundation which is under a tenner. (I still love high-street brands for every other product, trust me I do, just not for their foundation.)
Phew, now that point is over and done with I will actually get on with my review!
On the back of the box it reads: DIORSKIN FOREVER, the 1st flawless perfection foundation with a second-skin fusion wear by Dior. Infused with smart skin-shaping Skincare Essence, the formula becomes one with skin for an absolutely perfect complexion all day long. The compact foundation offers a silky, sensual and skin-fusion powder that evenly melts into the skin like a cream for an ultra-smooth, even complexion and visibly perfect skin day after day.
…and I couldn’t agree more! I hope you can see from my before and after pictures above the coverage is light to medium, depending how much you build upon it, and looks so smooth and natural.
It also has built-in SPF of 25 – a total bonus if you’re caught in unpredictable all-of-a-sudden sunshine Britain tends to throw at you totally off guard!
I apply my foundation with a brush, however I used to apply with the sponge which is great because one side is for light coverage and the other is for more of a medium coverage. (I’m not a big fan of full coverage, I’m into what looks natural!) It’s so easy to use even if you’re a foundation newbie!
I honestly get no problems with this foundation either during wear; no weird aches making you want to wash it off as soon as you’re home and it still feels like my skin can breathe, which you can’t say for a lot of foundations out there!
To me, it’s worth every single penny and has lasted for a few years now (I didn’t take it traveling with me however so maybe I should shorten that to a year.)
Have you got this foundation? Do you love it? Or have you got the liquid equivalent? (I want to try that one too!) Please feel free to comment any other foundations which you love even if they’re not Dior!
And just because I feel ‘unfinsished’ in the above photos – this is my complete look below, after blusher and lipstick, and is my current day-time look!
