Birchbox December – First Impressions

After last month’s box I was so excited to see what was inside this one!  Previously, I was also allowed to chose one of my items for this month, which I will get to shortly, but now I’ll jump into showing you what I got.

The Box (Style & Theme): This month’s box, as predicted, is about the party season, or officially ‘put on your party shoes!’ by Birchbox.  I love the decoration of the box this month, which is by Sophia Webster who also creates luxury footwear and by luxury, I mean luxury.  A 20% code was included in my box for when you spend £300, yes £300, on the website – with the cheapest shoe at £195 it’s safe to say I won’t be using it.  The shoes look bloody fantastic though.  If you want it, it’s: BbsW20% (valid until 8th January.)

The Products:

Eslor Firming Collagen Day Cream:  Holy moly this stuff is £50 full size (I’ve obviously got a much smaller size.)  Apparently ‘infused with Hydrolyzed Marine Collagen’ I might start using it in the lead up to New Year’s Eve for a super hyrdrated collagen pumped face!  Jesus, Birchbox have really pushed the boat out this month…

Vasanti Brighten Up! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator:  This, is actually an exfoliator, which is not something you may have thought when initially reading that lengthy title.  It advises to use 3-5 times a week, more often than your usual exfoliator but what the hell I’ll give this a blast too!

Electric Hair Hydrate Shampoo:  The design looks slick as hell, but does it contain sulphates?  I don’t know because I can’t find the ingredients on the web!  Since going sulphate and silicone free I don’t think I’ll chance messing the balance up on this small sample, any of my followers who loves this however, it is yours (if you pay me the postage.)

Eyeko Fat Eye Stick in Smoke:  My most excited-about-using-and-reviewing product in this month’s box!  I’ve been so intrigued by the Eyeko brand since Alexa Chung has jumped aboard their ship and I’m pleased to have received this.  It appears to be a black with glitter eyeshadow stick that looks easy to apply, although I was a bit sad when opening to find that the lit had fallen off during delivery and misshaped the nib – Birchbox you should have used tape!

Benefit Christmas Cracker High Beam:  Nooo I already have this when I bought a Cosmopolitan magazines years ago (and that one’s much bigger.)  Nevertheless it’s a nifty little highlighter, if not a little too bright and if I hadn’t already received one then I’d be a bit happier.  Still, I’m not complaining (too much.)

Models Own Nail Polish in Obsidian:  This is the product I got to chose – well, I was allowed to chose which colour I received.  There was a choice of five different sparkly matte shades so I selected the black/gold one, named Obsidian, as I felt I’d get the most wear out of it.  The green one does look good too however (who went for that one??), and it has a velvet lid!  Ooo Christmassy.

Sophia Webster Purse:  The kind of purse I used to take to Primary School discos (when I was at that age obviously – not now!!)  Only opening is a zip at the top, but I could see me using this to squeeze into my teeny weeny handbags when I can only fit in cards, cash and ID.

So there you have it:  you know what?  Overall, Birchbox haven’t done too shabby again!  The Eyeko Fat Eye Stick and the Models Own Nail Polish are the two items I was most excited about and they are both full size too  – with a total over what I paid for the box when added together too.

Reviews will be posted once tried and tested and I’ll put links in this post too (in case you’ve just happened to come over it.)  As always, if you’re thinking of signing I do have a referral link (here: ) to get free Birchbox points for us both – worth £5!   Go on, it’s Christmas.
