I’m really behind on the Birchbox front; December reviews not posted (until now), not all January products tried and tested yet and February is on its way (the box that is, clearly not the actual month we’re already in.)
I do have to admit I haven’t used all products from this box. This was due to a few different reasons I have stated below – so apologies for that, but at least you have less to read! The Products: Eslor Firming Collagen Day Cream: £50 for the full size product and I could feel why. This was LOVELY, it felt silky to apply, not too thick and not too thin as well as sinking in well and moisturising my dry skin. In fact, it made me realise my Body Shop Vitamin C Daily Moisturiser 30 SPF is totally the wrong day cream for me, which I did give a glowing review a little while back now (oops..sorry.) My skin was sorely dry and unhappy when I made the transition back and I knew it was missing the moisture/hydration Eslor was giving it. I couldn’t face coughing up £50 for a face cream though, so I settled for a wonderful La Roche Posay moisturiser, which will be reviewed soon…
Vasanti Brighten Up! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator: I’ve used this a number of times and am fact still using it – proof of a good sized sample. It is gentler than the Premae Mild Dermabrasion Face & Body Scrub I received back in September’s box and doesn’t do as good a job of ‘scrubbing down to new skin’ like Premae does either. However, I’m not knocking it. You’re supposed to use it more times a week and it’s great for those who might cringe at my previous sentence.
Electric Hair Hydrate Shampoo: Yep, I didn’t use this product. I’ve recently gone sulphate and silicone free and this shampoo has sulphates in. It’s yours if you want a sample sized shampoo that bad, or check out my video and post on Going Silicone and Sulphate free if you’re more interested in that.
Eyeko Fat Eye Stick in Smoke: This stuff is fantastic. Not so easy to use as first thought, you need a soft bristled brush to blend out (unless you want to look like Robert Smith) which is why I will be making a video tutorial on it in the next few weeks – yes I’m getting more on the video bandwagon so stay tuned. Great staying power though and kudos for being able to provide a smokey eye look from just one product and not five.
Benefit Christmas Cracker High Beam: As I said in my last post; I already received this years ago free from a Cosmo, or Glamour mag. I’ve not used it so therefore can’t comment a lot! I’m sure plenty of other beauty bloggers can if you search under its tag…
Models Own Nail Polish in Obsidian: Another full size product and one I actually got to choose! I’m always a bit dubious about the consistency of glitter nail polishes but this certainly impressed me. The picture below, which I hope impresses you too, is two coats. Especially great as it’s under a tenner and if removing glitter nail varnish puts you off wearing it pleeease check out my post on How to remove glitter nail varnish. Seriously, life can be much simpler and don’t miss out on the joy of glittery nails! They are so much fun.
There, December down, January to go (which may be filmed and easier to digest!)
As always, feel free to comment and ask questions below and my cheeky plug: if you are thinking about subscribing up to Birchbox I have a referral code that’ll get us both £5 free to spend in the shop – can you blame me?
